Whiskey Flats, NV
Here's an update on the Whiskey Flats, NV O-gauge layout. My redesign of the downtown section turned into a tear it all down and start over project. We Haven't Forgotten About Trains

MTH Firehouse
The O-gauge MTH Firehouse is an awesome animated structure that always grabs attention on our Whiskey Flats layout. As good as it is, I believe that I can always make something better. The exterior looked fine but not realistic. After painting a few random bricks in different colors I gave it a mortar wash to bring out the brick detail. How Not To - Scenery
My whole life I have loved to invent and create new things and that spills over into my model railroads too. I decided the bare styrofoam cliff face along the tracks just would not cut it but I had no idea how to cover it. Most model railroad magazines show plaster rocks or some variation glued to such a spot but the track was way too close for that. As it is there is barely 1/4" clearance between the wall and our diesel locomotive. Whatever I did had to be thin. Time to

Whiskey Flats Turnout
The turnout is repaired. It turned out... hmm, that when it was screwed down the turnout twisted just enough to cause everything internally to catch. A few adjustments of the screws and all is well now. The MOW crew is headed home but now the scenery is all tore up. I'm going to give you a tease of what the new scenery looks like. Log Car
Has it really been that long since my last post? My original idea was to update this every two days, oops. I found among the boxes of junk around here an old O-gauge log car with a broken coupler. I fixed the coupler but me being me I just couldn't leave well enough alone. I wanted to see if I could make the toy like log car look a little more realistic. An okay project, not truly what I was hoping. Not every project can be or should be a show winner. #WhiskeyFlats #Oga
